MLB/Arizona Diamondbacks - Colorado Rockies/COL/1.73
REASON FOR PICK: After getting roughed up in their opener, we'll call for the Rockies to bounce back with a win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
Jeff Francis will get the call for the home side. The lefty is entering his fourth major league season. He's had plenty of success at Coors Field during his career, posting an 18-8 career record. Francis has also fared quite well against the D'Backs, going 6-1 with a 3.74 ERA in 11 career starts. He turned in a fine Spring campaign, allowing just 13 earned runs while issuing only three walks over 27 2/3 innings of work.
Livan Hernandez will counter for Arizona. He is coming off a rough exhibition season, and has never been a strong early season pitcher. April has been his worst month by far, as he is just 14-23 with a 4.72 ERA over the course of his career. He has also had his share of struggles at Coors Field, where he owns an ugly 7.91 ERA in 60.1 innings of work. The Rockies bats were able to rough up Brandon Webb yesterday, and we expect to see more of the same on Tuesday.
The D'Backs took full advantage of a shaky Aaron Cook in Monday's ball game, but we don't see them having such luck against Francis. Expectations are high in Colorado this season, and we're expecting them to avoid an early season losing streak with a victory on Tuesday. Take Colorado.
